Notre Dame football heads to New York to play Syracuse in the 2018 Shamrock Series.

College Football in 2018 has been a weird one. The only things that really have panned out the way we thought they would have been Alabama and Clemson. The season that Notre Dame football is having is quite the suprise.

To top it all off, not many thought Notre Dame would control their destiny for a spot in the College Football Playoff. No one thought Syracuse would be 8-2 at this point. And who would have thought Notre Dame would be back at Yankee Stadium, this time wearing pinstripes?

Oh, how the Irish fans that roll with Boston are not pleased about that.

Yet here we are, in a better position than most people figured the Irish would be in.

Notre Dame’s win over Florida State proved a lot for the Irish. They got past a potential trap game with having to bring Brandon Wimbush back into the system after sitting the last six games out. The weather could have been harsh for both teams, but Notre Dame was ready.

A win for Notre Dame keeps them on the path to the playoff. A loss for Syracuse doesn’t ruin their season, but a win definitely makes it. At 8-2, a win for the Orange likely means a New Years Six bowl. That’s a lot on the line for a team who has reached eight regular-season wins for the first time since 2001.

For the Irish, it’s expected that Ian Book will be back under center after Brandon Wimbush gave him relief last week. Notre Dame proved that they could have an effective offense with Wimbush, which should relieve all Irish fans.

This game is a part of the annual Shamrock Series game. Notre Dame is 8-0 in the series that dates from 2009-2016 as it makes its return after missing last season.

Here are three bold predictions for Notre Dame vs. Syracuse.
