The Running Game

One of my favorite interviews of the day was definitely running backs coach, Autry Denson. Denson provided me a great insight into his plans to beat Clemson and he kept it very simple for me — “We have to establish the running game”.

Denson acknowledged that Clemson’s front-7 is probably the best Notre Dame will face this season, but neither he or his running backs are fazed. Denson knows that Notre Dame possesses one of — if not the best — offensive lines in the country. He knows that the O-Line will be able to handle their own down in the trenches.

Coach Denson realizes that it will not be easy to run the ball against Clemson, however he knows better than anyone Dexter Williams’ ability to take it to the house with even the slightest of holes.

Notre Dame’s distinguished running backs coach also recognized Jafar Armstrong’s importance in this game. The wide receiver turned running back has an immense ability to make his man miss and Denson plans to use that athleticism to Notre Dame’s advantage against Clemson.
