The Notre Dame Women’s Basketball team will face off against Marquette on Saturday in the final game before the Christmas break.

After beating Western Kentucky on Wednesday night, the Notre Dame Women’s Basketball team is back in action on Saturday. They will travel to take on No. 19 Marquette in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. When the two teams faced off last season, they went into overtime, with the Irish prevailing 91-85.

The Irish

On Wednesday night against Western Kentucky, the Irish shot 69.8 percent from the field for the game. That was the third all-time best in program history. It was the best they had done in a single game since they shot 70.2 percent in December of 2011. A big reason for that was the shooting from Marina Mabrey and Jessica Shepard. Mabrey went 4-4 from behind the arc while Jessica Shepard has made 15 straight shots since the Toledo game. She went 6-for-6 on Wednesday against WSU.

This will be a homecoming game for senior guard Arike Ogunbowale. Ogunbowale now sits just 335 points off of Skylar Diggins record of 2,357 for most points in a career at Notre Dame.

Marquette

Marquette is 9-2 on the year and 7-0 at home. That is good enough to get them in the top 20 in the polls. Both of their losses have come to ranked opponents, as they fell to No. 24 Miami and No. 6 Mississippi State. Marquette also faced off against Binghamton this week, as they defeated the New York school by a score of 93-40. A couple of players to watch out for will be junior Isabelle Spingola and senior Allazia Blockton. Both players put up 20 plus points against Binghamton in the win on Monday.
