“The Rocket” will be immortalized in the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, GA.

The National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame announced today the 2019 College Football Hall of Fame Class, which includes the names of 13 First Team All-America players and two standout coaches. The inductees were selected from the national ballot of 76 All-America players and six elite coaches from the Football Bowl Subdivision and the 100 players and 32 coaches from the divisional ranks. Among the players to make the 2019 class was former Notre Dame star Raghib “Rocket” Ismail.

“The Rocket” was one of the most electrifying players in the history of the sport. He finished his three-year career at Notre Dame with 2,580 yards from scrimmage, 1271 kick return yards and 336 punt return yards.

Ismail finished second in voting for the 1990 Heisman Trophy, losing to BYU quarterback Ty Detmer. He was a consensus All-American and the winner of the Walter Camp Award in 1990.

We here at Slap the Sign would like to think his induction was aided by our efforts. Two of us, Sonny Martinez and I, are College Football Hall of Fame voters. Ismail was on both of our ballots.
