The Notre Dame women’s basketball team will return home on Sunday afternoon after a lengthy road trip as they welcome Georgia Tech to town.

On Thursday night, the Irish finished up their road trip as they traveled to take on Clemson. Notre Dame beat the Tigers by a score of 101-63. The Irish were able to bounce back after suffering a loss to North Carolina just the weekend prior. The Irish now return to South Bend to play host to Georgia Tech.

The Irish

On January 6th, the Irish traveled to Georgia Tech and beat the Yellow Jackets 76-55. This was the Notre Dame’s second win in ACC play and their first victory on the road in league play. Now, more than a month into the ACC schedule, the Irish welcome Georgia Tech to town. While the Irish are 7-1 in the league, Georgia Tech is struggling a lot more.

One thing the Irish did well against the Yellow Jackets the first time around was passing the ball well. They had 30 assists on 34 baskets. They also shot the ball well from the field, shooting just under 55 percent. If the Irish want to sweep the season series, they will need to improve at the free throw line. They shot just 46.7 percent the first time these two teams played, and considering it’s usually a heavenly contested matchup, the Irish will need to earn all the points they can get. They will also need to watch the turnovers. This has been a problem the past few games and was a major reason they fell to North Carolina last weekend.

Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech comes into Sunday’s matchup at 13-8. They are just 3-5 in conference play and have lost four of their last five. They are coming off a one-point loss at the University of North Carolina. On the road this season, they are 2-5. The Irish should keep an eye out for the two freshmen Elizabeths. Elizabeth Balogun led Georgia Tech with 14 points against Notre Dame in the first matchup. Elizabeth Dixon added 12 points of her own in the game.
