The Notre Dame women’s basketball team will hit the road on Thursday evening to face the University of Miami.

On Sunday afternoon, the Notre Dame women’s basketball team returned home to take on Georgia Tech. Notre Dame beat the Yellow Jackets by a score of 90-50. It was one of the most dominating performances of the season for the Irish. The Irish now return to the road to take on the Miami Hurricanes, hoping to repeat Sunday’s performance.

The Irish

When the Irish faced Georgia Tech for the second time this season, it went just as well as Notre Dame fans could have hoped. The offense was in prime form, shooting 55.9 percent from the field including 66.7 percent from behind the arc. When it came to the defense, it was one of, if not the best defensive performance from the Irish this season. They allowed just 13 points in the first half and just three points in the second quarter.

Heading into the matchup with Miami on Thursday night, the Irish need to keep their strong play up once again. Miami was the first team to hand Notre Dame a loss when they entered the ACC so this game will always be one that is marked on the Irish’s calendar. If the Irish can keep the turnovers to around 14 or lower, they should be in good shape.

Miami

Miami comes into Thursday’s matchup at 19-5. They are 7-2 in conference play and have won four of their last five. They are coming off a 13 point victory against the University of Virginia. At home this season, they are 13-2. The Irish should keep an eye out for the 6’4” junior forward Beatrice Mompremier. Mompremier, a Baylor transfer, leads the team with 16.3 points per game this season and in rebounds with 11.7 per game. Any time a player averages a double-double, they are one to watch out for. Brianna Turner and Jessica Shepard will once again have their hands full on Thursday night.
