The Notre Dame women’s basketball team got their ninth win in ACC play on Sunday afternoon, taking down Florida State, 97-70.

The Irish returned home on Sunday afternoon after falling to the Miami Hurricanes on Thursday. It was a strong performance at home as the Irish took down Florida State, 97-70. Arike Ogunbowale led all scorers with 27 points. Jessica Shepard added 26 points of her own to lead Notre Dame to victory

Arike gets hot from outside

It’s no secret that Arike Ogunbowale has struggled in recent weeks. Even in games that she has put up points, she has struggled to get any sort of rhythm going. On Sunday afternoon though, she found her touch. The senior from Milwaukee scored 27 points for the Irish in the win. She went 9 for 16 from the field, but it was her three-point shooting that allowed her to shine.

Ogunbowale went five-for-seven from three point range to help the Irish nearly hit the century mark against a top-25 team. In the second quarter, Ogunbowale was able to hit back-to-back threes to extend the Irish lead out to double-digits. On top of what she did offensively in terms of scoring, Ogunbowale also managed to rack up a team high nine rebounds on the afternoon.

Jessica Shepard comes up big once again

The most consistent player this season on both ends of the floor has to be Jessica Shepard. Once again on Sunday afternoon, the senior forward scored in double figures. Along with 27 points from Ogunbowale, Shepard added 26 of her own to account for 53 of the Irish’s points. She also added eight rebounds and two assists in the win. Shepard’s partner in the post, Brianna Turner, didn’t get on the board quite as much as Shepard or Ogunbowale, but she did manage six assists and five big blocks.
