The Notre Dame women’s basketball team will hit the road on Monday night as they take on Syracuse in their last away game of the regular season.

On Thursday night, the Irish played host to Duke. Notre Dame beat the Blue Devils by a score of 89-61. The Irish now will travel to Syracuse for Big Monday. The Orange are coming off a 90-63 victory at home against Pittsburgh.

The Irish

Thursday was a special night in Notre Dame history. Arike Ogunbowale became the all-time leading scorer in program history after she recorded 25 points against Duke at home. This was a big moment for the Irish guard in an already impressive career. While she will always be remembered for her shots that won the national championship last season, this is an incredible record to add to her resume.

The Irish will have a true test on their hands for their final regular season away game. Syracuse is a team very similar to them in the fact that they keep opponents off the score sheet. If Notre Dame wants to pull away a victory at the Carrier Dome, offense is going to be very important. Right now, the Irish are averaging 51.6 percent shooting from the field. It is very hard to beat a team when they shoot over 50 percent consistently. And if they can keep up their defensive form as of late, they will be in good shape.

Syracuse

Syracuse comes into Monday’s matchup at 20-6. They are 9-4 in conference play and have won three of their last five. At the Carrier Dome this season, they are 10-2. One player to keep an eye out for is Tiana Mangakahia. She is currently averaging a team high 15.2 points per game on 44.3 percent shooting. Mangakahia also leads Syracuse in assists per game with 8.46.
