The Notre Dame women’s basketball team got their fourteenth win in ACC play on Sunday afternoon, taking down the University of Virginia, 103-66.

The Irish returned home on Sunday afternoon for the final game of the regular season. With the regular season ACC title on the line, the Irish stormed out to an impressive lead that they would never relinquish. Notre Dame would end up beating Virginia 103-66 on Senior Day. Arike Ogunbowale led all scorers with 24 points. Brianna Turner added 21 points and four blocks in the win

The Irish honor five on Senior Day

Maureen Butler, Arike Ogunbowale, Marina Mabrey, Jessica Shepard, and Brianna Turner were all honored prior to the game in the Senior Day celebration. For the first time in her career, Butler, a walk-on, was able to get the start alongside her fellow seniors. It was an impressive day for the class as four of the five made it into double-figures. Ogunbowale led the way for the seniors  with 6-8 shooting from the three-point line. Shepard added 19 points and eight rebounds, falling just short of her sixth double-double in seven games.

It’s the junior who really stole the show

If this was the last time we saw Jackie Young at Purcell Pavilion in the regular season, she made sure it was going to be a memorable one. While it is still unclear if Young will forgo her final year of eligibility and declare for the WNBA draft, she sure is helping her draft stock. On Sunday afternoon, the junior did not start, as there are five seniors. But she was the first off the bench and she made up for lost time. By halftime, Young had ten points and was just three assists and three rebounds away from a triple-double. She took care of business in the second half and picked up the triple-double early in the fourth quarter. She now joins Skylar Diggins-Smith as the only players in program history to have two triple-doubles in their career. This was also one of the best shooting performances we have seen from Young in a long time, as she went 9-13 including 3-4 from beyond the arc.
