Notre Dame lands its quarterback for the 2021 class.

Friday night, Tyler Buchner made it official on Twitter that he was committed to Notre Dame. He’s been on campus multiple times over the past year, most recently being at the end of February. The staff has been extremely high on him, especially quarterback coach Tommy Rees, since he threw last season during a camp in South Bend.

Last season Buchner tore his ACL the first game of his sophomore season but has been rehabbing and has fully come back into his form on the football field.

He holds 17 offers at the moment, including some from the likes of Alabama, Michigan, Georgia, and USC.

What will Buchner bring to South Bend?

The 6’2″, 200 pounds quarterback is a really good athlete. He played lacrosse as well before his knee injury last season and was one of the best in the nation. Aside from being a great athlete, Buchner has all the tools to be an elite quarterback. For being such a young quarterback, he has great footwork in the pocket and has great presence while moving around behind the line of scrimmage.

What I like the most from seeing his film is his accuracy on the move. He throws a great ball moving to both his left and right and puts it right on his receivers. His arm strength is good for his age and it will only get stronger as he continues to develop physically.

I love this pickup to start off the class strong.

With Buchner now committed to Notre Dame, the Irish begin the 2021 class with a big bang and look to add a ton of playmakers to bring along with Buchner. This group should be very fun to watch for years to come.
