Best team performance: The win at Syracuse
The Irish won a lot of games this season and many of them were pretty great. There was the win over Louisville and the implications that came with that so early in ACC play. Then there is the win over North Carolina State on Big Monday late in the season. But it was the win over Syracuse, their last road game of the season, that should be deemed the best team performance.
Let’s start with what this game meant for the season. With only one game after that, they needed to come away victorious in order to win a share of the ACC regular season title.
In the game itself, the Irish had all five starters in double figures, with Arike Ogunbowale and Brianna Turner both topping the 20 point mark. Jessica Shepard and Jackie Young both had double-doubles in the game and Young was just two rebounds shy of recording a triple-double. The Irish did everything well in this game and went into a tough environment to play a ranked team. The fact that they were able to win this game by 30 points is a true testament to how good this team was in the last six games of the season.
