Michigan State

Though they don’t play every year, Notre Dame and Michigan State are rivals with quite a history together. The Irish are 47-29-1 vs the Spartans all-time and took back the Megaphone Trophy the last time they met with a 38-18 victory in 2017.

Unfortunately, it will be a while before these two see each other again, as they will play a home and home series in 2026 and 2027.

Ohio State

Perhaps one of the most anticipated future matchups for Notre Dame in the coming years, the Buckeyes and Irish will have a home-and-home series in 2022 and 2023. Both games will be the season opener for the two schools those two years.

The Irish are 2-4 vs Ohio State all-time, having lost four straight. The only two wins for Notre Dame in this series came in 1935 and 1936.

Wisconsin

Notre Dame and Wisconsin are two blue-blood college football programs that have been around since the 1800s. That makes it somewhat surprising that they’ve only met 16 times, with the Irish holding the series edge with an 8-6-2 record. The two schools haven’t met since 1964, when the Ara Parseghian-led Irish beat the Badgers in Madison 31-7.

The two will meet for the first time in 56 years in 2020, where they will play at Lambeau Field and then again in 2021 at Soldier Field. Though these are two natural site games, they will each take a turn basically playing in their own backyard.
