Texas A&M

The Irish and Aggies have a very brief history together, having met only five times and not since 2001. These two schools will end that drought in 2024 and 2025 when they have a home-and-home series.

Notre Dame hasn’t had great success in the state of Texas recently, but hopefully their luck can turn around when they travel to College Station in 2024. The thought of Notre Dame playing in an environment like A&M with their 12th Man is pretty exciting. It reminds me of the environment and build-up of Virginia Tech from this previous year, but on a bigger stage since it’s the SEC and Texas — and everything is bigger in the SEC.

Arkansas

Notre Dame will play SEC power Georgia in 2019, and after that matchup, Arkansas will be the next closest SEC opponent for the Irish. The Razorbacks will travel to South Bend in 2020 for the first ever matchup between the two schools before they play again in 2025.

Alabama

No matter how hard we try, Irish fans will never be able to shake the memory and constant reminder of 42-14 from the 2012 National Championship. Though the game is well in the past, I think all Irish fans are looking forward to the rematch with the Crimson Tide in 2028 when they travel to South Bend for the first time since 1987.

Notre Dame will make the trip to Tuscaloosa the following year in 2029.

Of course, it’s possible for these two to face off in the CFP between now and 2028, and if they did then this future series would have a much stronger connection between the two schools.

One parting fun fact about this matchup: Notre Dame leads the all-time series 5-2, with four of those wins coming between 1973-1980. Head coach Dan Devine went 4-0 vs Paul “Bear” Bryant and Alabama while at Notre Dame.
