Chase Claypool

The departure of Miles Boykin leaves a void at the No. 1 wideout spot. Claypool is an athlete with similar physical traits as Boykin — perhaps even more athletic. He’ll need to be the guy to step into the No. 1 role in the passing game. It won’t mean a dramatically heavier workload on offense, as he caught just nine fewer passes than Boykin in 2018. But it will mean he’ll face the opposition’s better cover corner more often, which will generally increase the degree of difficulty from week to week. Additionally, this could mean reducing Claypool’s role on special teams — one he excelled at a season ago.
