Coming off of a stellar regular season in 2018, Notre Dame is looking to get over the hump in 2019.

There’s a lot of tough games on the 2019 Notre Dame football schedule. The Irish travel to Georgia, Michigan, and Stanford. They deal with seven other Power 5 teams on the slate. And as always, there no FCS game to hide behind.

That type of schedule can be a roller coaster of emotions. If you’re not careful, the monster games that you’ve circled may not beat you, but the smaller ones will. If the Irish want another run at the postseason, they’ll need to stay mentally disciplined and beat the teams they’re supposed to beat.

They won’t just need to beat Georgia and Michigan. They’ll need to beat New Mexico and Bowling Green. A loss to either one of them will disqualify Notre Dame from the College Football Playoff — if not the New Year’s Six Bowls entirely.

It’s easy for Notre Dame to look past a team. No one looks past the Irish. Notre Dame is a target for everyone. Every team wants to tear down a college football institution and prove they’re not the power they once were. The same way defending champions or consistently strong programs earn a target on their back, a blue blood like Notre Dame has a target on its back forever.

Because no one will be looking past the Irish, Notre Dame is liable to get beat in a trap game. Here are the five most dangerous “trap games” on the 2019 schedule.
