A new year means new college athletes on the verge of a breakout, and at Notre Dame, there are several candidates ready to put their name on the map in 2019 — especially on the offensive side of the ball.

In our first series of breakout candidates for the 2019 season, fellow Slap the Sign contributor Mason Plummer and I have decided to look at the Notre Dame offensive skill positions. With Dexter Williams and Miles Boykin going pro, that means a new go-to WR and a new starting RB.

For the sake of this series of articles, we have left out some obvious names: Jafar Armstrong, Tony Jones Jr., Chris Finke and Chase Claypool. They have all already broken out at the college level in their own right. Later on we will talk about the best and most exciting players on offense, and that will include those names.

We have also decided to include 5 names for the exercise — the five names we feel have the best chance to leave their stamp on the program and college football in 2019.

Players who just missed the list include: Joe Wilkins, Jahmir Smith and C’Bo Flemister.  JaVon McKinley, Micah Jones, Isaiah Robertson, Kendall Abdur-Rahman and Cam Hart were not considered for this piece at the present time.

Enjoy and as always leave a comment below with your own thoughts.
