Notre Dame football landed a commitment from 2021 offensive lineman Greg Crippen Wednesday night.

Greg Crippen was on campus for an unofficial visit just this past weekend and clearly wanted to end his recruitment pretty early, knowing Notre Dame was the place he wanted to be.

Crippen attends IMG academy in Florida after transferring from Milton Academy (Mass.) last year. That move definitely helps him with getting an early jump on the college life, which is what IMG provides and is known for. As of right now, he holds some big offers from the likes of Alabama, Michigan, and Ohio State. I’d expect more to come even with his early commitment to the Irish.

With the 6’4″, 270-pound lineman’s commitment, he joins quarterback Tyler Buchner as the second pledge in the 2021 class. He will be looking to protect his quarterback in the future for the fighting Irish. It’s a great start for the class on the offensive side and I expect it to keep improving greatly around these two highly touted commits.

The 2021 offensive line class could also shape up to be one of the best in the past couple years if the Irish stay hot on the recruiting trail and on the field this upcoming season. I wouldn’t be surprised if the 2021 offensive line class gets put together faster than the 2020 class because of how great of shape they are with the recruits in this class.

Yes, it’s two years down the road, but getting an early jump on top recruits is huge for the Irish.

One thing we can’t downplay is impact of current offensive line coach Jeff Quinn. He’s been absolutely killing it on the recruiting trail and honestly, I don’t see it stopping. He’s been excellent.
