It was Dexter Williams’ first game back with the Irish after a suspension caused him to miss the first four games of the season. It was Ian Book’s first start in Notre Dame Stadium. When the Irish were able to get over this hump, it gave fans legitimate hope that a College Football Playoff berth could be in the future.
