In its quest to get back to a second straight National Championship game, the Irish faced a tough test in the UConn Huskies. Earlier in the season, the Huskies had taken care of the Irish in South Bend, winning that game 89-73. In the rematch, however, the Irish stepped up and took care of business.

But it wasn’t easy.

The Irish trailed by as many as 9 in the early stages of the 4th quarter, but rode the clutch shot-making of Arike Ogunbowale and Marina Mabrey and the defense of Brianna Turner to get back into the game.

Eventually, the Irish walked away with the victory, winning 81-76 and causing Muffet McGraw to do the Irish jig on the court after the game.
