The next category of the illustrious Slappy Awards is Best Moment. For Notre Dame Fighting Irish fans, every year is filled with great moments. The 2018-2019 athletic year was no exception.

We continue our presentation of the 2019 Slappy Awards with the award for Best Moment.

The University of Notre Dame athletics program is regarded as one of the best in the NCAA. The teams and student-athletes that represent Notre Dame are some of the best in the country.

Irish fans have the privilege of witnessing a number of amazing sports moments each and every year.

In the 2018-2019 season, we saw moments that changed expectations, preserved a perfect season, broke school records, and kept postseason hopes alive.

All of these moments will hold a special place in the hearts of Irish fans for a long time. Unfortunately, only one can receive the Slappy Award for Best Moment.

The nominees for this category are:

  • Ian Book’s first start of the season against Wake Forest.
  • Dexter Williams’ first game back from suspension against Stanford.
  • Tony Jones Jr.’s 51-yard touchdown reception against USC.
  • Marina Mabrey breaking the Notre Dame record for most made three-pointers.
  • Cam Morrison’s game-winning goal in overtime against Clarkson.

Before I announce the winner, I would like to take a moment to revisit each of the nominees. This will give all you Irish fans a chance to relive these truly glorious moments.

As you could have guessed, the first nominee for this category (chronologically speaking) took place during college football season in the fall.
