Notre Dame Fighting Irish Slappy Awards: Best Moment of the Year

Dexter Williams’ first start after his suspension
Right before the start of the 2018 season, Notre Dame’s running back depth chart took a hit with the news of Dexter WIlliams’ suspension. Williams would have to sit out the first four games of the season due to a violation of team rules.
In his absence, the Irish rushing attack was pretty average. As a whole, the Notre Dame running backs averaged just over 141 yards per game during that time.
Williams’ first game back was a top-ten matchup in primetime against rival Stanford. On his very first carry, he ran 45 yards for a touchdown to score the first points of the game.
He finished the game with 161 total rushing yards on 21 carries. Williams regained the starting running back job and did not look back the rest of the year.
