Notre Dame Fighting Irish Slappy Awards: Best Moment of the Year

Marina Mabrey breaking the Notre Dame record for made three-pointers
There are few women’s college basketball players, past and present, that can shoot the three as well as Marina Mabrey. Heading into her senior season, Mabrey was one of the leaders of a very talented Notre Dame team.
The expectations were high for the Irish in 2018-2019. They were defending national champions and almost everyone from their starting lineup the previous season was returning.
Mabrey entered the season within striking distance of the Notre Dame record for career three-pointers. She needed 69 three-pointers to break the record set by Alicia Ratay.
The record-breaking shot came during the semifinals of the ACC Tournament. Mabrey finished the game with four made threes, and the Irish went on to win by a score of 91-66.
