The easiest way to describe this game would be like a tennis volley on Wii sports where you and your opponent just got back and forth and back and forth.

Coming out of halftime trailing 7-5, Maryland would score two quick goals to even the score 7-7. Immediately after, Notre Dame would score three straight goals in less than a minute and then add another to retake the lead 11-7. Like clockwork, Maryland responded with four straight goals of their own to tie it back up 11-11.

The Irish would answer and take a 13-11 lead before Maryland scored twice, including the game-tying goal with 16 seconds left to take the game into overtime tied 13-13.

Just into the second minute of overtime, junior Brian Willetts notched his third goal of the game and gave the Irish the 14-13 win.

This back-and-forth matchup vs a top-five team in the country was thrilling to say the least, and was a marquee win for the men’s lacrosse team this season.
