3.  Stanford

PALO ALTO, CA – NOVEMBER 25: Chris Finke /

Going to Silicon Valley in late November will undoubtedly have better weather than Indiana will. That’s not how the Cardinal made the list, though. Stanford made the list because of their “Walk Down” when fans take a nearly half hour walk to the game. There are also tailgates right outside the stadium. The Stanford band might be most famous for going out on the field, but they’re a ton of fun to watch perform throughout the game. That’s as long as they stay off the field. The crowd is into the game, and it doesn’t hurt that Stanford is a rival.

In recent years, many of Notre Dame’s toughest games have been against Stanford. Last season was a top-10 matchup that saw Dexter Williams return to the Notre Dame lineup. The season before featured a top-25 matchup, which the Irish fall short at Stanford. Before that, from 2012 until 2016, every time the Irish and the Cardinal met, it was a one score game. To win at Stanford, the Irish are going to need some fan support. Furthermore, given that this will be the last game of the season, it could a huge impact on the bowl game each team makes. So, make the trip, and enjoy some good bar food at Treehouse or one of the other local sports bars.
