Even though Notre Dame football doesn’t kick off its season for another 97 days, the Irish are winning the offseason, making it a great time to be an Irish fan.

It’s a little bit over 4 months until the Notre Dame football team kicks off its season against Louisville, and believe me, I’m more than ready for that to happen.

Even though the Irish have their fair share of question marks heading into the 2019 season and a brutal Cotton Bowl loss not too far in the rear view mirror, I personally can’t help but feel a great sense of optimism heading toward a new season. Is it possible that Notre Dame is on its way to a turning point in the development of the program? I feel pretty confidently that is very much the case.

Notre Dame is rarely going to find itself at the crest of the mountain when it comes to recruiting, but let’s just say that the Irish have absolutely been out-doing themselves. With the recent commitments of the likes of running back Chris Tyree, wide receiver Jordan Johnson, and offensive tackle Tosh Baker, it’s hard not to feel good with what is happening with the Irish on the recruiting trail. In the class of 2020, the Irish have landed 11 commitments and currently have the 6th-ranked class in the country, according to 247Sports.

And as I daydream about a season that doesn’t start for another 4 months, it’s hard not to wonder when the Notre Dame football program was in a better position over the course of the last 25 years.

Things are going very smoothly for the Irish (knock on wood), and if you believe the conspiracy theories floating on social media, other programs have started to take notice and want to disrupt the flow Notre Dame has. For more on that, I’ll leave you with this tweet and the thread that follows:

Whether or not conspiracies are true and whether or not the Irish are on the brink, it’s hard to not just sit back and enjoy the moment.

Notre Dame is winning the offseason. Let’s hope that momentum carries itself on to the football field in September and beyond.
