Notre Dame football hit the jackpot with a commit from an elite offensive lineman on Saturday.

Saturday afternoon, Notre Dame football landed its second commitment of the day for the 2021 class with offensive lineman Blake Fisher. Being close to South Bend, he’s been on campus multiple times throughout the years. Obviously the Irish were always going to be tough to beat out in the end.

During the lineman camp this weekend, he finally made that into reality and committed publicly. The Indiana native has been a major target for the Irish staff for quite some time now. In the end, Fisher wanted to stay home and play for the Irish. He’s one of the top offensive line prospects in the upcoming class and probably even a top 30 player overall.

Fisher holds 30 offers, including some from the likes of Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State.

What will Fisher bring to South Bend?

The 6’6″, 300 pound offensive lineman is just massive with a great frame already for his age. He doesn’t have “bad weight”, and he moves extremely well for being that big. He’s top notch in pass protection and is nearly impossible to get around because of his size, strength and quickness. His long arms are what really give him a big advantage while in pass-pro. It’s almost unfair because he’s so big, yet he’s your prototypical tackle when it comes to length,  movement and strength. He’s also dominant in run blocking and is very physical at the point of attack.

I’d definitely expect him to be a tackle when he shows up to South Bend, as long as he continues to grow into his frame.

I can’t over-emphasize how big of a deal it is to not only build and land the guys in the trenches early, but to land elite in-state talent and keep them home to play at Notre Dame. The staff is doing just that with one of the top lineman in the entire country.

With Fisher being the second commitment on Saturday, the Irish now have four commitments in the 2021 class — three on offense and one on defense. This class is already elite with these four commitments and I expect several more major players to join it — which could easily make this one of the best in Brian Kelly’s career.

Next. What does Rubio bring to the table?. dark

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: this is an exciting time to be a Notre Dame fan when it comes to recruiting and I don’t expect it to slow down anytime soon.
