How Would an NFL Team Made of All Notre Dame Football Players Look in 2019?
By J.P. Scott
There are plenty of former Notre Dame football players currently playing in the NFL. Here’s the best starting 22 you could put together using only those players.
There are very few colleges with enough alumni currently in the NFL to fill out a 22-man offensive and defensive starting lineup. Notre Dame football is one of those programs. All told, there are 44 former Irish players currently on rosters or in NFL camps.
Going position by position, I went ahead and built the best team I could from current NFL players who went to Notre Dame. Offensively, I went with a three receiver, one running back set. On defense, I went with 4-3. HERE is what the same exercise looked like last year before the NFL Draft.
This what I ended up with heading into the 2019 season.
Offense
Quarterback: DeShone Kizer, Green Bay Packers
Running Back: Theo Riddick, Detroit Lions
Tight End: Kyle Rudolph, Minnesota Vikings
Tackle: Ronnie Stanley, Baltimore Ravens
Guard: Quenton Nelson, Indianapolis Colts
Center: Nick Martin, Houston Texans
Guard: Zack Martin, Dallas Cowboys
Tackle: Mike McGlinchey, San Francisco 49ers
Wide Reciever: Miles Boykin, Baltimore Ravens
Wide Receiver: Will Fuller V, Houston Texans
Wide Receiver: Golden Tate, New York Giants
Defense
Defensive End: Stephon Tuitt, Pittsburgh Steelers
Defensive Tackle: Jerry Tillery, Los Angeles Chargers
Defensive Tackle: Sheldon Day, San Francisco 49ers
Defensive End: Romeo Okwara, Detroit Lions
Linebacker: Te’Von Coney, Oakland Raiders
Linebacker: Drue Tranquill, Los Angeles Chargers
Linebacker: Jaylon Smith, Dallas Cowboys
Corner: KeiVarae Russell, Cincinnati Bengals
Safety: Harrison Smith, Minnesota Vikings
Safety: Matthias Farley, Indianapolis Colts
Corner: Julian Love, New York Giants
All in all, not a terrible squad. Go ahead and look at the overall list of former Notre Dame players currently in the NFL and let us know what changes you would make personally in the comments section — or hit us up on social media.
