Coming off back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time since the early 90’s, Notre Dame football is starting to reap the benefits from a recruiting standpoint.

Notre Dame football will always recruit well. They are one of about 5 to 10 schools that have history and prestige on their side. Even with the academic hurdles, small Catholic school obstacles and lack of dominating success over the last two decades, Notre Dame will always attract supreme talent. That shows consistently when the recruiting rankings finalize every February.

However, recruiting seems to be in a different spot right now than it has the last several seasons. Notre Dame is landing their top targets, and when they don’t, they have secondary options already lined up they also very much love.

The depth chart is becoming a strong suit, especially at key positions that used to be an issue. Defensive line recruiting is in a great spot. Safety recruiting continues to get better. The staff is finding guys early, landing them early and moving on to other top notch athletes in the next cycle.

For this article specifically, I will focus on the offensive side of the ball. Fans know how well Notre Dame recruits along the offensive line and at tight end, however, quarterback and wide receiver recruiting are usually top notch as well and running back recruiting might have just received a huge boost with Lance Taylor.

Recruiting can be better–with continued on-field success it will get better–but let’s take a look at the strengths and weaknesses of Notre Dame recruiting on the offensive side of the ball as it stands today. For reference, all star ratings are according to the 247sports.com composite rankings.
