The Shamrock Series has been a polarizing topic amongst Notre Dame football fans. Even more polarizing are the alternate uniforms that have been worn during those games.

How many more days until the 2019 Notre Dame football season starts?

As we know, the Notre Dame football program is full of tradition. In years past, the uniform that the team wears has rarely changed. The only exception has been the iconic green jerseys that made occasional appearances.

So you can understand why the team and the fanbase might get excited (or unreasonably upset) to see some fresh new threads. After all, this isn’t the University of Oregon.

The Shamrock Series began back in 2009. At first, it was just a game with a cool, catchy title played at a neutral site (usually an NFL stadium).

To up the fanfare, Notre Dame started releasing new alternate uniforms for the annual game in 2011. Every year since, Irish fans have looked forward to the unveiling of the new uniforms for the upcoming game. The Shamrock Series was put on for the 2017 season, but resumed the following year. Additionally, there will be no such game in 2019.

The anticipation leading up to the release is always the same, but the reactions that follow are certainly not. Some receive universal praise. Some earn golf claps. Others draw a mixed bag of confusion and disappointment.

There have been eight unique Shamrock Series uniforms (if you include the 2017 Rockne uniforms). They have been ranked before, and they will most definitely be ranked again. I don’t care. I’m gonna rank ’em anyway.

Without further adieu, here is the definitive ranking of the Shamrock Series uniforms for 2019, according to yours truly.
