Notre Dame Football: Shamrock Series Uniform Rankings, 2019 Edition
By Jack Leniart
No. 7: 2018 vs. Syracuse (Yankee Stadium, New York, NY)
The latest addition to this list is the uniform worn by Notre Dame during their game at Yankee Stadium last season.
Basically, if the Irish want to go undefeated in the regular season, they should wear some ugly Shamrock Series uniforms.
I understand what the Under Armour team was going for when they designed these uniforms, but, woof, were they bad.
As they had done in years past, Notre Dame wanted to pay homage to their hosts with these new uniforms. They did so by using the Yankees’ script on the jerseys and by featuring pinstripes on the helmet logo, jerseys, and pants.
The helmets were supposedly matte navy, but anyone who saw them would surely say they looked closer to matte black. They had a logo on each side. It was the Notre Dame insignia inside a pinstripe white circle with a gold border.
As a standalone piece, the helmets looked nice. With the rest of the uniform, though, they looked out of place.
The jerseys were navy with “Norte Dame” stitched on the chest in the classic Yankees script. The shoulder sections were entirely white with pinstripes — matching the pants that were also white with pinstripes.
The design team was swinging for the fences with these uniforms. Unfortunately, they hit a dribbler back to the pitcher’s mound.
