Notre Dame Football: Irish record vs. every ACC team
By J.P. Scott
Notre Dame football has a long history of epic battles with ACC teams. Here’s how the Irish have fared over the years against those programs.
Notre Dame football may be independent, but Irish football history is full of great rivalries with several ACC teams. The recent “deal” put in place where the Irish will play five ACC teams every year is only going to eventually strengthen those rivalries.
Here is how Notre Dame football has fared historically against every team in the ACC.
Pitt
Notre Dame and Pitt have played 68 times. The Irish lead the series 47-21.
Georgia Tech
Notre Dame has faced the Yellow Jackets 35 times, including the famous “Rudy” game. The Irish lead the series 28-6-1.
Miami
The Irish and Hurricanes have met up 27 times, with Notre Dame leading the series 18-8-1.
Boston College
Boston College and Notre Dame — the only two Catholic schools who play FBS football –have met up in “The Holy War” 24 times. The Irish lead the series 15-9.
North Carolina
The Tar Heels and Irish have met 20 times, with Notre Dame leading the series 18-2.
Syracuse
After last season’s beatdown at Yankee Stadium, Notre Dame leads this series 6-3.
Florida State
The Seminoles and Irish have met up in some classic battles, but they don’t play enough. Florida State leads the series 6-3.
Wake Forest
The Demon Deacons have yet to notch a win in the series. Notre Dame leads 5-0.
Duke
Notre Dame and Duke have only met five times, with the Irish leading the series 3-2.
Clemson
We all know how the last matchup went. Historically, Clemson leads the series 3-1.
North Carolina State
The Wolfpack and Irish have only met three times. N.C. State leads the series 2-1.
Virginia
The Wahoos and Irish have only met twice. Notre Dame has won both games, and the last one was pretty exciting.
Virginia Tech
The two teams will add another game to the series in 2019. For now, the series is tied at one game apiece.
Louisville
When the Irish travel to Louisville this season, it will only be the second time the two teams have ever met. Louisville won the first matchup back in 2014.
