Notre Dame quarterback Ian Book’s best throw of the night was to a cheerleader

The Notre Dame quarterback struggled with accuracy all night, but one of his passes hit the recipient on the nose — literally.

It was not Ian Book’s greatest performance in a Notre Dame uniform by any stretch of the imagination. Although he did complete over 60 percent of his passes, many of the throws were off and he was saved on more than one occasion by the skills of his receivers.

In fact, the best throw of Book’s night may have been at a Louisville dance team member.

In the second half, Book dropped back to pass and almost immediately saw no viable options downfield or room to tuck it and run. As a result, he uncorked a deep ball to the sideline, hitting Louisville Ladybird dance team member Elizabeth Scott right on the nose — literally.

It’s the stuff you only see in Hollywood, similar to Mox hitting the mascot in Varsity Blues — a movie that probably wouldn’t get made in 2019 for a variety of reasons. You also saw some coaches get run over on the sideline in Necessary Roughness.

And of course, who could forget the famous scene of Marsha taking a football to the nose in The Brady Bunch?

It appears that Scott suffered a broken nose as a result of the throw, but she is having some fun with it on Twitter.

We wish Miss Elizabeth and her face a speedy recovery.

Moving forward, it would be nice to see the Irish signal caller settle down and start hitting Notre Dame players in the numbers and hands instead of opposing cheerleaders in the face. Fighting Irish fans can put away their fair share of alcohol, but games like the one we watched last night are going to do irreparable damage to our collective livers — and possibly the drywall in our homes.

Next. Jones Jr. was offensive player of the game. dark

That said, a win is a win — and we’ll take it.
