Here’s how some of our writers see the Notre Dame vs. Georgia game playing out.

It’s almost here. This game has been analyzed and broken down more than any Notre Dame game I’ve seen in recent years. The national pundits have had their say. Now it’s time for our writers to tell you how they think this game will go.

This could very well be the biggest game of the college football season, if not top 3 by season’s end. Irish are a big underdog going between the hedges and it will probably be one of the toughest games they’ve played in a while. I also think this Georgia team is the best they’ve had under Kirby Smart. Do I give the Irish a chance unlike everyone else who pretty much thinks Notre Dame shouldn’t even show up for the game? Absolutely I do. The injuries to key offensive weapons is a definitely a killer for Notre Dame and it makes it even more tough to come out with a win, but I think the Irish will have a shot. In the end the Bulldogs are just too stacked from top to bottom, and make a few more plays to find a way to win at home. Georgia wins 26-20

It’s hard not to feel like Notre Dame is coming into this game a little overmatched. It has all the ingredients for a typical Irish big game letdown — on the road, College Gameday, a Top-5 team…so it’s not surprising not many are giving the Irish a chance. I see the play calling opening up a bit and the Irish hanging with the Dawgs closer and longer than anticipated, but that Georgia run game will wear down that front seven as the game goes on. It’ll be close, but Georgia pulls away late and the Irish will have an uphill battle back to the College Football Playoff. Notre Dame 24, Georgia 34.

Breaking News: Georgia is pretty darn good and playing on the road in college football is tough. Irish and Bulldog fans have been inundated with opinions about this game all week. One thing we can all agree on: it cannot kickoff soon enough. This is a monumental game for Brian Kelly and Notre Dame. A win makes them contenders for the College Football Playoff. A loss adds to the narrative that they are unable to win the big game. Some may say the Irish have not done enough in the first two games of the season to prove they can beat an elite team. I tend to agree. However, I also know that teams are capable of raising their level of play in big moments. I do not think Notre Dame will beat Georgia in Athens on Saturday, but I do think they will fight for four quarters and cover the 14-point spread. Notre Dame 20, Georgia 31

The Bulldog rushing attack proves to much for the Irish in end, as a huge game from D’Andre Swift hands Notre Dame its first loss. The Irish will keep it close throughout and play well, but Georgia will pull away in the 4th quarter. The Irish drop to 2-1 and back to the double-digits in the polls. 34-20 Georgia.

Matt Clark

Georgia’s run game and athleticism prove to be too much for the inexperienced linebacking group of the Irish. The Bulldogs are able to get into the second and third levels of the Notre Dame defense too frequently. The pass rush of the Irish is able to disrupt Fromm and their secondary makes some big plays. However, Georgia proves too deep and the Irish fade as the game progresses. Georgia wins 28-17.

I think playing in Athens against one of the best and most athletic teams in the country will prove to be a tad too much for the Irish on Saturday night. It will be a hard fought battle all night long, but in the end, I just can’t see the Notre Dame rushing attack making enough plays to help the passing attack outscore the Bulldogs at home. 27-21 Georgia.

Notre Dame is going to arguably be toughest environment these players have ever been in. I don’t get the “Notre Dame has no chance” talk, because they do. Close calls with Florida State in 2015 and even Georgia in 2017 are proof. Unfortunately, I think Georgia is far superior to any of those teams and could be the best team Notre Dame has faced (other than Clemson last year) in years.

Georgia’s athletes and especially their run game will be the difference. Five players with 100 rushing yards is a lot, and giving the stability (or lack of) at linebacker, Georgia should be able to run pretty much at will. And if Notre Dame decides to go all in to stop the run, Jake Fromm can do some damage with his arm. Notre Dame can win, I just don’t see it happening. 38-23 Georgia.

I don’t care about hedges. I don’t fear the SEC. I’ve actually watched eight quarters of Notre Dame football, unlike most people who are offering opinions on them. I’ve watched and rewatched two Georgia games. This is not going to go the way you think it will go. I’m putting some money where my mouth is.

Notre Dame wins this thing and flips the table on the 2019 college football season. Go Irish, 34-24.
