Advantage-Notre Dame

While they run two different schemes, with Notre Dame running a 4-3 defense and Georgia running a 3-4 defense, the Irish have a major advantage on the defensive line. Notre Dame features two defensive ends who both appeared on the preseason watch lists for the Bednarick Award, for the defensive player of the year, the Bronco Nagurski Award, for the most outstanding defensive player in college football and in the first round of many analyst’s 2020 NFL mock drafts.

Both Julian Okwara and Khalid Kareem present explosive pass rushing ability, thus the hype surrounding them.  Where the Notre Dame defensive line has struggled at times is in run stopping. This could prove to be a massive issue, given Georgia’s offensive line’s ability to run block and D’Andre Swift’s elite rushing skills.

On the other hand, the Irish defensive line should be able to get a solid push against the Georgia offensive line on pass plays, which could prove highly disruptive to Jake Fromm and the Bulldog passing game.
