Notre Dame might have come up short, but there was a long list of impact contributors on the defensive side of the ball. Here are just a few from that list.

Honorable Mentions

Shaun Crawford

Crawford had a couple big time stops when his team needed it most. Despite losing former All-American Julian Love, Notre Dame still got a very talented player to replace him. While Crawford might not have had the biggest night on the stat sheets, he made plays when they mattered the most. Shaun Crawford finished the night with four tackles. Tariq Bracy

The youngster came to play in a big-time road game. Many, including myself, believe this was Bracy’s best game in an Irish uniform. Despite the end result, it couldn’t have come at a better time. Bracy finished the night with three tackles and two pass breakups. For a full breakdown of Bracy’s stats from the game, click here.

Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah

Despite missing part of the game while going through the concussion protocol — which he would eventually clear and return to the game — Wu’s performance was very impressive and definitely played a big part in how well the team’s defense looked. Wu finished the night with eight tackles, 2.5 of which were for loss.  For a full breakdown of Owusu-Koramoah’s stats from the game, click here.

Defensive Player of the Game

Drew White

White looked impressive again, this time against the toughest opponent on the team’s schedule this season. He seems to be more and more comfortable in each game. White was all over the field and made some very big plays in Notre Dame’s impressive defensive performance. I’m excited to watch this guy (along with the one mentioned right above) grow throughout the season and into next season. White finished the night with five tackles, two of which were for loss.
