Career day for Drew White

Drew White hasn’t been a huge name for Notre Dame. Recently, the junior has been making some noise for himself.

His two appearances last season should have been a glimpse of a promising future. Instead, it was looked over due to the talent level of the other players in his position.

This season White has stepped into the spotlight and shows no signs of shying away. In just three games, the linebacker has racked up 22 total tackles, ten solo tackles, five tackles-for-loss and one sack.

His most recent performance should put the rest of Notre Dame’s opponents on high alert.

White put together arguably the best game of his career last week against his toughest opponent to date. Five total tackles, with four of them being solo and two for a loss highlighted the day for Notre Dame’s defense against the No. 3 team in the country.

There really is no reason to believe that White won’t only be able to do the same this week against Virginia — and possibly even better.

Virginia’s offensive line isn’t terrible. With that being said, their performance last week against Old Dominion was far from impressive. The first half was outright concerning for Virginia fans.

Old Dominion jumped out of the gates to a 17-0 lead over the Cavaliers and was able to pressure Bryce Perkins as needed. The Monarchs were able to produce seven pass deflections because of it.

Virginia found a way to get it done at the end of the day, much like they had to vs. Florida State the week prior. With that being said, the offensive line has been lacking consistency.

Perkins has been relatively successful with a 65.3-completion percentage. But that same success has only found the end zone six times with four interceptions just four games into the season.

White has the ability to ride the wave he is currently on and make a standout performance this weekend against another ranked team.
