Here’s how some of our writers see the Notre Dame football game with Bowling Green shaking out.

It’s game day for Notre Dame football! Our writers have opinions on how exactly this game with Bowling Green will shake out. Here are their thoughts.

Carlee North

With many looking ahead to the rivalry matchup with Southern Cal next week, one might wonder if the players will also be doing the same. According to Brian Kelly that won’t be happening, with him challenging his team during Monday’s press conference, talking about attention to detail and if they want to be great or just good going into this matchup with Bowling Green.

This game should be well out-of-hand early on with the Irish never looking back. I try not to put too much on individual players, but I will be somewhat disappointed if Ian Book doesn’t shred up the Falcon defense, lead by former Irish defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder, and complete at least 80 percent of his passes. The passing game should be on full display Saturday.

As for the defense, I’d be pretty surprised if they allow more than two scores. They should dominate once again — just stay healthy please!

Expect to see some young faces on both sides of the ball, because it should definitely be that type of Saturday afternoon in South Bend, with the Irish winning 58-10 heading into USC week.

There’s not much to beat around the bush with here. Bowling Green is not good — at all. There’s a reason the Irish are six touchdown favorites. Hopefully we see a more efficient offense and a lot of backups/freshman get some playing time. Notre Dame needs to get have a nice confidence-boosting game before the upcoming stretch of USC, Michigan, and Virginia Tech. Notre Dame welcomes Brian VanGorder back with a 59-10 victory.

Jack Leniart

After two straight games against Top-20 opponents, Notre Dame gets a bit of a reprieve from their schedule when Bowling Green comes to town. As far as overall talent, Bowling Green is basically on the same level as New Mexico. Therefore, we should expect a pretty similar score. I think Ian Book will have a nice bounce-back game after some struggles against Virginia. Even with the losses of Daelin Hayes and Shaun Crawford to injury, the Irish defense should continue to dominate. Notre Dame 59, Bowling Green 7.

Mason Plummer

Bowling Green and it’s terrible Brian VanGorder-led defense cannot stop Notre Dame as the Irish pour it on all game long. Notre Dame runs and passes for 300 yards for over 700 yards of total offense in a rout of a very bad Bowling Green team. 66-10, Irish.

Matt Clark

Notre Dame’s athleticism is too much for an overmatched Bowling Green from kickoff. The Irish dominate in every aspect of the game and Brian Kelly rests many of his key players ahead of the USC & Michigan games, getting key depth pieces much needed game experience. The Irish roll 62-10.

Nathan Erbach

It’s gonna be ugly for Bowling Green. This prediction looks crazy on the surface until you see some of the scores from their opponents this season. Only way Notre Dame doesn’t score 70 is if they literally stop trying to score before the 4th quarter. Notre Dame 70-7.

Sonny Martinez

After two huge games in a row, Bowling Green is more than a cool down game. Notre Dame has already proven it can hang with the big boys and the Falcons are far from that. The Irish have questions on offense, but a Brian VanGorder defense should serve as a cure, even for just a game. 59-10 Irish.

I’m not buying Brian Kelly being in a rush to get his young guys on the field. His offense still needs o learn how to execute. That’s what this game is for. Look for a strong focus on the rushing attack and offensive line technique, as well as some high-percentage passing plays

to work on Ian Book’s mechanics. I think most starters are rotating in for the better part of three quarters en route to a 52-0 Notre Dame win.
