Irish in the NFL: Former Notre Dame receiver Golden Tate returns today
By J.P. Scott
Here’s what’s going on today in the NFL for some of your favorite former Notre Dame players.
Week 5 of the 2019 NFL season kicks off today. Here’s what is going on in regard to the games your favorite former Notre Dame players will be involved in.
Golden Tate, Vikings vs. Giants
Tate makes his 2019 season debut after serving a controversial 4-game suspension for PED use. He’ll look to help his Giants — led by quarterback Daniel Jones — continue their winning streak in a game against the Minnesota Vikings.
There will be plenty of Irish to keep an eye out for in that one, with T.J. Jones serving as one of the primary return men for New York and Julian Love looking for playing time. Harrison Smith leads a stingy Vikings defense, and Kyle Rudolph will be doing his thing at tight end.
Tyler Eifert, Cardinals vs. Bengals
Eifert will look to help his Bengals log their first win of the year in a battle win the Arizona Cardinals
Ravens vs. Steelers
Baltimore tackle Ronnie Stanley will likely cross paths with Steeler defensive end Stephon Tuitt at some point in this divisional rivalry. Also look for Miles Boykin trying to score his third touchdown of the season.
Falcons vs. Texans
In what could be an exciting offensive game, Will Fuller should get plenty of looks for Houston in this one. Nick Martin will lead the Texans offensive line.
Packers vs. Cowboys
In what might be the best matchup of the day, Cowboys linebacker Jaylon Smith will look to stymie Aaron Rodgers, while Zack Martin and his fellow lineman will look to control the tempo with the run game.
Broncos vs. Chargers
Drue Tranquill and Jerry Tillery have both seen limited action for the Chargers this season, but have been very productive when they are on the field. Keep an eye out for both when L.A. is on defense.
Browns vs. 49ers
San Francisco is quietly 3-0 and their offensive line is a big reason for that. Mike McGlinchey is having a solid year, and he’ll be challenged by some very good Cleveland pass-rushers tomorrow night.
