The Notre Dame Football season is now half over, and the Irish need some help to make the Playoff.

At 5-1, Notre Dame football is still in a good spot. Their one loss was quality, a close one at Georgia. Although, that quality took a bit of a hit with the Bulldogs’ loss to South Carolina on Saturday. Still, things are looking up for Notre Dame.

The first College Football Playoff poll doesn’t come out until November and the committee has made it clear that the AP Poll means nothing. But currently sitting at No. 8 in the AP Poll, it certainly looks like a good chance that the Irish will be somewhere in that Top 10.

Of course, all of this will be for nothing if Notre Dame loses even one more game. Some out there believe that the Irish shouldn’t make the Playoff without a conference, citing “lack of 13th data point.” That means they have to take care of their business in 12. They do have a few tricky matchups coming up, so they’ll need to focus only on what they can control and not let any outside noise being distractions.

Our own Mason Plummer recently took a look at the case for and against a Notre Dame playoff appearance. If that’s going to happen, they’ll need some help.

There’s a group of teams out there that could really help, or hurt, the Playoff aspirations. If you’re an Irish fan, these are the teams you should cheer for and cheer against.

Please note that teams ahead of Notre Dame, such as Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State won’t be on this list. Obviously, those are teams you’d like to see lose.
