Advantage-Michigan
Both Notre Dame football and the Michigan Wolverine offensive line units are littered with talent. Notre Dame features two players on the Outland Trophy preseason watchlist, given to the best offensive lineman in the country, in Liam Eichenberg and Tommy Kramer.
Meanwhile, Michigan had four offensive lineman on the Outland Trophy preseason watchlist with Ben Bredeson, Michael Onwenu, Cesar Ruiz and Jon Runyan making the list.
Both centers, Cesar Ruiz for Michigan and Jarett Patterson for Notre Dame, were named to the Rimington Trophy preseason watchlist for the award given to the best center in all of college football.
Left tackles Jon Runyan was a first-team All-Big Ten selection last season, while guard Ben Bredeson made the second-team All-Big Ten selection. Both lines are big, athletic and solid in both pass protection and run blocking. The slight edge goes to Michigan, but the battle in the trenches will be a lot of fun to watch.
