Key Defensive Player for Duke: Both Duke DEs

As I highlighted previously, the Notre Dame offensive line has some major shifting around to do this week and whenever defensive ends hear that, they’re absolutely licking their chops.

DEs Victor Dimukeje and Tre Hornbuckle are very solid ends that could cause Notre Dame problems. As a duo, they have tallied 52 tackles, 9 sacks and 3 forced fumbles. That is deadly.

Tackles Liam Eichenberg and Josh Lugg may have their hands full, but the two of them are still very good OTs and should be able to hold their own. It will definitely be a battle to watch.

Key Defensive Player for Notre Dame: Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa, DT

A guy that has been playing superbly well and is still not talked about enough is DT Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa. He has been clogging up the middle and really causing problems for opponents, but isn’t credited nearly enough. MTA does a ton for the Irish, but the stats may not exactly show it. In a cold weather game where Duke will likely try to run the ball quite a bit with the aforementioned Deon Jackson, MTA will be tasked with not letting Jackson have any success up the middle.

On the season, MTA has 16 tackles (9 solo) as well as 0.5 sacks and a fumble recovery. As I said before, the stats do not necessarily show it, but MTA is very key to what Notre Dame football does defensively if you watch him play.

Duke does not have the best offensive line in the nation by any means, so Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa should have plenty of success. Expect a big game from him and the rest of the Notre Dame defensive line.
