Coming off of maybe one of their most complete games of the season, Notre Dame football heads into a matchup that everyone dreads each season — Navy.

It’s officially Navy week, a statement that no team enjoys hearing. They may not have the best talent on the field — and there is plenty there — but the way the Midshipman play makes things difficult for opposing teams like Notre Dame football.

Between their pesky defense and triple option, playing Navy becomes a pain — which is exactly what they want.

Brian Kelly explained the difficulty there is trying to prepare for a team that runs a more or less foreign offense in only three days. But the reality is Notre Dame thinks ahead when it comes to this. The Irish were utilizing their bye weeks and fall camp to familiarize the defense of what to expect.

Be that as it may, switching gears in the second week of November in the latter part of a long season is a tall task for any team.

For most teams, beating Notre Dame would be a season-defining win despite whatever else might happen. With the Navy-Notre Dame storied history, a win would be no different for the Midshipman. With a 7-1 record, Navy has a legitimate chance at an impressive bowl game. A win over the Irish would just solidify that even more.

As Notre Dame stands with two losses on their record, their goals for the season are long gone. With only three games left, a loss would not only make this season a complete loss, but it would also likely have an impact on some of the coaching staff.

There’s more and more on the line at this point of the season for Notre Dame, but if they stay focused on taking things game by game as Brian Kelly implied following the Michigan loss, they should set themselves up well this weekend.

Here are your three bold predictions for Notre Dame football versus Navy.
