Coming off a 52-20 throttling of No. 21 Navy, Notre Dame football has added another Top-25 win to the resume and now turns its attention to Boston College.

I think it’s safe to say all of us were somewhat concerned heading into last weekend. The typical problems that come with playing Navy coupled with their impressive run game and Notre Dame’s struggles from weeks prior pointed to a long and frustrating Saturday on paper.

Thankfully, the offense and defense played arguably their most complete game together and ended the game before Navy got a chance to annoy us with a 12 minute scoring drive. Ian Book made plays with his arm and legs that we’ve been waiting for all season, and a Julian Okwara-less defense stuffed Navy’s run game, holding them to 100 yards below their season average.

After the 32-point victory, the Irish found themselves at No. 16 in the CFP rankings, behind a three loss Auburn team. With just two regular season games left, the chance of a New Year’s Six Bowl game seems to be getting smaller and smaller. Many current projections have the Irish playing either Oklahoma State, Texas, or Iowa State in the Camping World Bowl held in Orlando, Florida.

It’s all projections right now, and who knows who will lose and what the rankings will look like by the time Selection Sunday rolls around. Until then, the Irish can only control what they can control, and that’s their next two opponents starting with Boston College.

The Eagles enter South Bend 5-5 and of course, coming of a bye week. With close losses to Wake Forest, Louisville, and Florida State, this team could easily be 8-2 or at the very least, ranked in the Top-25.

Behind their juggernaut of a running back AJ Dillon, who has racked up 13 touchdowns and over 1,400 rushing yards, Boston College is 5th in the country in rushing yards per game with 282 per contest. Defensively, the Eagles are allowing 34 points per game and have one of the worst passing secondaries in the country, allowing over 300 yards through the air each week.

The next installment of the Holy War is here, with both teams fighting for their respective end of the season goals. Here are the top storylines to watch for this Saturday.
