Notre Dame Football: Top Storylines vs Boston College
Senior Day
Saturday will mark the final home game of the careers for the current seniors. This senior class has quite literally experienced both sides of the spectrum of success, going from a 4-8 campaign their freshman year to a 30-6 record since with a CFP birth last year.
With back-to-back 10-win seasons, finishing this year with double digit wins would mark the first time an Irish team has done so three straight years since 1991-1993. To go along with that, Notre Dame is looking to finish perfect at home for a second straight season, something that hasn’t happened since 1987-89.
Lastly, the current 17-game home winning streak is the third longest since Notre Dame Stadium opened in 1930, and the fourth-longest current streak in the country, only trailing Clemson (22), UCF (20), and Ohio State (19).
It’s safe to say that regardless of how this season ends, the seniors on this team have been instrumental in turning the program around. Just three years removed from one of the worst seasons in program history, the type of turnaround that has occurred is impressive to say the least. It doesn’t happen without players and leaders who are bought in to the school and program, players like the seniors on this year’s team.
Saturday is truly a special day to watch the seniors run out of that tunnel one last time. No matter how you feel about this season, appreciate what they’ve given to the program and watching them play their final home game.
Playing 4+ years of college football isn’t easy, and getting a degree from Notre Dame isn’t a walk in the park either. These seniors are about to do both, and there’s no better way to celebrate that than with a dominating win during the Holy War.
