Here’s how some of our writers see the Notre Dame vs. Boston College game shaking out today.

It’s Senior Day in South Bend, as Notre Dame host the Boston College Eagles. This one is not expected to be close, but we’ve seen stranger things happen.

Here’s how our writers see the game unfolding.

Carlee North

Notre Dame should win handily on Saturday afternoon. I have a feeling that this game will be a little frustrating in the first half because how big of a game this will be for the Eagles, but the Irish should pull away in the second half after the emotion wears off for them.

The Irish offense should have a field day through the air, and to be honest, have no trouble running the ball when they want to. Notre Dame should be able to score on every possession if they execute like they have the past few weeks.

The defense better be up for the task against the run. Stop the run on defense and this game will be over very fast. We’ll end up seeing the backups again in South Bend on Saturday, with an Irish win on Senior Day, 42-16.

I think we’ve all been pleasantly surprised by the offense and overall play by this team the last two weeks. Even though this play was expected all season, the offense (especially Book) and defense are in a groove right now. Boston College is 12 points away from being 8-2 and boast the 5th best rushing attack in college football behind the legs of AJ Dillon. Like last week, the play of the defensive line and front seven overall will be the biggest key to a dominating win. Right now I have no reason to think the Irish don’t show up again and take care of business. Behind another huge day by Book vs a poor Eagle secondary, the Irish roll on Senior Day, 48-17.

Jack Leniart

The Notre Dame offense has found its rhythm over the past two weeks. I fully expect that trend to continue against a pedestrian Boston College defense. The Irish defense, on the other hand, will be tested. The Eagles have a quality offensive line and an NFL running back on their roster.  At the time of this prediction, the Irish are 20-point favorites. Years of Notre Dame football have taught me to never be confident that the Irish will cover a double-digit spread. However, I do think this will be a comfortable win on senior day. Notre Dame 41, Boston College 24.

Matt Clark

Ian Book’s rebirth continues as he spreads the ball amongst all of his weapons. The Irish D remains stout, coming up with big plays to hold Boston College’s formidable running game and offense in check. Notre Dame continues to look like one of the top teams in the nation, as they roll over BC. Irish 42 Boston College 13.

Nathan Erbach

The Notre Dame offense is clicking right now, and they end the season against two poor defenses — especially through the air in BC’s case. I expect Ian Book to have another really good day and end the home slate on a high note. Dillon and Bailey will have a few good series for the Eagles that lead to TDs, but that will be all they can muster against Clark Lea’s defense. ND wins big on senior day, 45-14.

I think this game ends up looking more like what we thought the Navy game should have. I see Boston College sustaining a couple of long drives by taking advantage of Notre Dame’s depth issues on the defensive line, pounding the ball right at the Irish. Notre Dame shouldn’t have much trouble scoring, and that will eventually force BC to try passing to keep up, which won’t end well. Irish win, 42-13.
