Here’s how some of our writers see the Notre Dame game against Stanford shaking out later today.

Notre Dame wraps up its regular season today at Stanford. The Irish are heavy favorites, but it’s been a while since the Golden Domers logged a win on “The Farm.”

Here’s how some of our writers see the game playing out today.

Carlee North

Stanford has been pretty banged up all season, but Notre Dame is pretty banged up right now too. The difference is that the Irish are better coached, have a better program and have better athletes from top to bottom. This is a game Notre Dame should absolutely win.

Brian Kelly has had trouble finding wins in Palo Alto, but that changes on Saturday. The defense continues its domination as one of the top defenses in the country. Ian Book continues to play how he should in this offense and tosses it around “the farm” with ease to his playmakers.

I would say the rushing offense finishes strong, but I just think it’ll be a smarter game-plan if they sling it around like they’ve been doing successfully the past few games — unless of course the weather changes that.

Notre Dame finishes the season 10-2, another double-digit win season, and gets a 38-13 win against Stanford.

Connor McJunkin

Stanford has been a thorn in Notre Dame’s side for about a decade now, with the Irish just 3-7 in their last 10 meetings vs the Trees. The Irish have been rolling since their loss to Michigan, reeling off 4 straight behind a new and improved Ian Book. The defense has been outstanding as well, especially shutting down 2 run-heavy teams in Navy and Boston College the last two weeks. Barring some sort of let down/trap game, there’s no reason Notre Dame doesn’t roll a 4-7 Stanford team in Pali Alto. Notre Dame notches their 3rd straight 10-win season and rolls on the West Coast 42-13.

Jack Leniart

Notre Dame has not won a game in Palo Alto since 2007. That streak will end on Saturday. Stanford has been riddled with injuries this season and they are pretty much limping to the finish line — losing their last three games. Most notably, both quarterback KJ Costello and cornerback Paulson Adebo will miss the regular season finale. Notre Dame is currently a 16.5-point favorite in this game, and I think they have a good chance of covering. Notre Dame 38, Stanford 13.

Mason Plummer

Notre Dame starts quickly and doesn’t let their foot off the gas the whole game. This Stanford is nothing like the Stanford teams of old and Notre Dame should be able to do whatever it likes against them offensively. Another huge day from Ian Book and Chase Claypool allows for Phil Jurkovec to play most of the 4th quarter. Notre Dame wins, 42-17.

Nathan Erbach

Yep, a blowout. Stanford is not only not that good this year, but their best players are banged up. It might be a sloppy day due to whether conditions, but that could also mean the ND defense gets a score or two. This won’t be close and Kelly gets his first win in Palo Alto — in convincing fashion. ND finishes off a strong 2019 regular campaign at 10-2. Notre Dame 38, Trees 13.

J.P. Scott

The Michigan game was a wake-up call for Notre Dame. Since then, they’ve had a chance to grow into the team they always had the potential to be. They remind of of the Stanford team from a couple of seasons ago, where that team lost a couple of games but were arguably one of the top four or five teams in the nation by season’s end.

The Irish will steamroll Stanford today and get down to the business of preparing to finally win a bowl game. Notre Dame 52, Stanford 10.
