The Irish received good news this season when they found out that Isaiah Pryor had decided to leave Ohio State University, entering the transfer portal and deciding to transfer to Notre Dame next season. Pryor will be immediately eligible to play for the Irish and will have two years of eligibility as a transfer graduate student.

Pryor, who was a high school teammate of Houston Griffith’s at Bradenton, Florida’s IMG academy, was the No. 3 safety in his class according to ESPN. He is a four star recruit what was a top 50 prospect overall. Pryor had initial offers from Notre Dame, among other blue chip programs, but ultimately decided to commit to Ohio State.

Last season, Pryor registered 31 tackles, five pass deflections and an interception for the Buckeyes. However, this year he found himself behind both Jordan Fuller and Josh Proctor on the depth chart and decided to transfer after three games, in which he saw limited action with Ohio State.

Pryor is physically built to match up against bigger receivers down field. In addition, he is extremely solid in run coverage. He has great maturity, work ethic and athleticism and has a knack for finding the ball. He possesses good coverage skills and will likely end up being the starting free safety for the Irish next year.
