Notre Dame Football All-Decade Team: Athlete
CJ Prosise (2012-2015)
Prosise is mostly known for his senior season where he took over as the starting running back after a season ending injury to Tarean Folston in game one. However, he also started 6 games at wide receiver during his junior year and appeared in all 13 games during his sophomore seasons while starting 2. He did all of this after starting his career on the defensive side of the ball at safety.
The reason I have Prosise as the All-Decade Athlete selection is the value he provided that last season with the team. He ran for over 1,000 yards and punched the ball in 12 times for a score. In a year where Notre Dame needed someone to step up and take the reins after a devastating injury to the starter and the transfer of Greg Bryant before the year, Prosise likely produced a better season than either of those guys would have. He was also a valuable asset on special teams prior to his senior season and broke out as the season went on in 2014, showing why the staff should utilize him more as both a receiver and rusher. Prosise was truly one of the more dynamic players this decade with the ball in his hands.
That senior year would ultimately get Prosise a nice payday, as he was a third round selection of the Seattle Seahawks. Unfortunately, what seemed like a promising start to his career with Seattle has turned into an injury riddled one. However, at only age 25 and low miles, Prosise likely still has valuable NFL years left.
