Notre Dame got a commitment from a big time prospect on signing day.

The Irish added another one on early national signing day! 2020 athlete out of California, Ramon Henderson committed to Notre Dame. Henderson has been a long time target by almost everyone on the staff and they have treated him like a top priority for months now.

It officially paid off when he inked Wednesday with the Fighting Irish. He was on campus at the end of September and it couldn’t have gone better. There was a lot of speculation that he could visit a couple schools leading up to signing day, which would of made things a lot more interesting, but that never happened and that made it even more clear he wanted to be in South Bend in the end.

He holds 11 offers, including from the likes of Oklahoma, Washington, and Tennessee.

What will Henderson bring to South Bend?

The 6’2″, 185 pound athlete is expected to start on the defensive side of the ball. He plays receiver and also in the secondary, but the staff is looking from him to be a big help in the cornerback room. They love his size and speed and they think he could be a really good corner for the Irish.

I think what really made the staff covet Henderson in the secondary is his ability to play the ball and be a cover corner at a high level. He’s still learning the position and has room to work on his technique, but they expect him to thrive there. He’s able to run stride for stride with any receiver on the field and has a knack to make plays when the ball is in the air. He has quick feet and flips his hips very naturally in his back pedal.

I definitely think he could make a splash in the offensive side of the ball, but we will see how it plays out once he gets to campus. He has room to improve when it comes to playing a little bit more physically, but athletically he seems to have a ton of it.

This is a nice add for the staff late in the process.

With Ramen Henderson now signed, the Irish have 18 guys in the class with 9 being on offense, 8 on defense and a long snapper. The class was expected to be small, but it also has the quality that a lot of others don’t have. This could quietly be one of the best groups in the country from top to bottom. What an exciting finish to early signing day.
