Clemson was too much for Notre Dame to handle. Notre Dame is now 0-1 in conference play and their losing streak extends to four games.

Notre Dame struggled to put the ball in the basket in Sunday’s loss against Clemson. Shooting 31.3 percent from the field along with shooting 11.8 percent from behind the arc is no recipe for a victory.

Clemson built such a strong lead to end the 1st half it made it an endless uphill battle for the Irish. Going into half the score was 35-17. Clemson outscored the Irish 23 to 6 in the 2nd quarter, which ultimately was the biggest setback for Notre Dame.

The Irish played a much better 2nd half. Despite being down by a massive amount of points, Notre Dame never quit. Starting the 4th quarter, the Irish went on a 15-4 run. With 5:33 left in the 4th quarter, the lead was cut down to 13. However, Clemson didn’t let Notre Dame inch any closer and came out victorious. Final 71-55.

Kendall Spray and Kobi Thornton were huge contributors in Clemson’s win. Kendall, scoring 24 and Kobi, scoring 23, they combined for scoring over half of the Lady Tigers points with 47 points. Kobi also had six rebounds along with her 23 points.

Notre Dame’s leading scorer was none other than Katlyn Gilbert. Katlyn finished the game with 16 points, 9 assists, 6 rebounds, and 1 steal. Anaya Peoples also played a decent game. Anaya finished with 14 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals, and 1 block. However, the rest of the Irish were mostly invisible.

The Irish can’t let this game hang over their shoulders. Continuing to develop and gain experience is most important for this young team.
